Saint Marcouf, M.K.B. St. Marcouf (Batt. Crisbecq).
AOK 7, KVA J1, KV.Gr. Cotintin Ost, KVU Gr. Marcouf, M.K.B. St. Marcouf (Batt. Crisbecq), Stp. 135.
Drive to the village of St. Marcouf. In a wide circle around it you see signs along the road, leading you to the location of the Battery St. Marcouf, or as the Allied forces called it, Battery Crisbecq, because of the nearby village.
The site is now a days a museum after excavating the bunkers and cleaning them out of sand and mud in 2004. It is now a proper site for visitors of the many bunkers of the battery. Several bunkers are restored like they were during war time. There are some bunkers with names like "Tina" and some of the big 21cm gun emplacements have direction and distance indicators painted on the walls. Some bunkers have their number on the wall, what is not so common in this area of the Atlantikwall.
On the site there are bunkers that where still under construction in June 1944. Also there are bunkers that were damaged by heavy ship and artillery fire, but also very nicely restored examples.
